In 1920, Max Wilensky started a general store on Flanders Four Corners in East Lyme, CT. Specializing in hay, grain, shoes and boots, he ran a very successful retail store and even found time to brew a little beer. In 1946, he had the idea to open a liquor store and asked his son, Leo, to run it for the family. Since then, Max's has been a fixture on the very same corner in East Lyme.
